Compulsory & XCEL
Building foundations for success
Girls Competitive Programs
Golden City offers two competitive pathways for female gymnasts: the traditional USAG Junior Olympic (JO) Compulsory program and the XCEL program. Both programs provide excellent competitive experiences with different approaches.
JO Compulsory Program
The Junior Olympic Compulsory program (Levels 2-5) teaches standardized routines that all gymnasts perform. This builds strong foundations and allows judges to evaluate execution, technique, and form.
Compulsory levels prepare athletes for the Optional program (Levels 6-10) where they create their own routines.
Level 2
Introduction to competition with basic skills and set routines
Level 3
Building foundation skills with standardized routines
Level 4
Intermediate compulsory skills and execution focus
Level 5
Advanced compulsory, final level before optional

XCEL Program
XCEL is a flexible competitive program that allows gymnasts to compete with modified routines based on their individual skills. It's perfect for athletes who want the competitive experience with a more flexible training schedule.
XCEL divisions range from Bronze through Diamond, allowing athletes to compete at their own level and progress at their own pace.
Bronze
Entry-level XCEL with basic skill requirements
Silver
Intermediate skills with more variety
Gold
Advanced skills approaching JO level
Platinum
Highest XCEL level with complex routines
Diamond
Elite XCEL competition level
